The First Joint Steering Committee Meeting Of The Phase 1 Partnership Project For The Institutional University Cooperation With Quy Nhon University (2022-2027)
On May 31st, Quy Nhon University, together with KU Leuven, organized the First Joint Steering Committee Meeting of The Phase 1 Partnership Project for The Institutional University Cooperation with Quy Nhon University (The IUC-QNU project). The meeting aimed to evaluate the progress of the entire IUC-QNU project as well as each sub-project in the first year of Phase 1, in order to draw lessons learned and discuss the implementation plan for the upcoming years.
The Phase 1 of the IUC-QNU Project (2022-2027) has started since September, 2022, pursuing a dual goal to improve the livelihoods and living conditions of the local residents in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands of Vietnam and enhance the education, research and service delivery capacity of QNU’s staff in agriculture and food technology, environment, and renewable energy.
Representatives of 07 sub-projects presented achieved results in the first year of the project
In the morning session with the participation of all IUC members, representatives of 07 sub-projects presented achieved results. Regarding the evaluation of the activities in the first year, the reports clearly outlined that the effective collaboration between Quy Nhon University and Belgian universities/colleges led to the successful implementation of various activities within the IUC-QNU project.
Sub-projects aimed at enhancing university management capacity have effectively implemented various activities related to providing e-services for students, e-learning, library, and establishing a sustainable waste management system, as well as a safe laboratory system.
In terms of sub-projects researching on sustainable crop development and production, numerous activities to enhance research and education capacity have been carried out. Notably, during this session, participants discussed the future directions of the sub-projects for the upcoming years in Phase 1 and explored possibilities for interconnecting the sub-projects.
Program Coordinators, Project Managers and the representative of VLIR-UOS gave a speech in the morning session
During the afternoon session, all Flemish and Local Team Leaders, together with the Project Support Unit (PSU), actively engaged in fruitful discussions on organizational and management matters to ensure consistent coordination in all activities of the IUC-QNU project.
In conjunction with the First Joint Steering Committee Meeting, several other activities of the IUC-QNU project and its seven sub-projects were implemented, including seminars, training sessions, field trips, and etc, at Quy Nhon University and various research locations.
The First Joint Steering Committee Meeting was honored to welcome the attendance of the Flemish and Local Program Coordinators, Project Managers, team leaders and members of the seven sub-projects, and selected PhD candidates.
