QNU SHOWCASES IUC PROJECT 7 ACHIEVEMENTS AT THE 10TH EUROPEAN CHEMISTRY CONGRESS (ECC10)

(IUC) – As part of the 10th European Chemistry Congress (ECC10), held from 12–16 July 2026 in Antwerp, Belgium, representatives of Project 7 under the IUC-QNU presented the project’s outstanding achievements in laboratory safety and sustainable development at Quy Nhon University (QNU). The presentation highlighted the fruitful collaboration between QNU and its Belgian partners under the VLIR-UOS programme while strengthening academic connections with the international scientific community in the fields of Green Chemistry and Sustainable Development.

Dr. Dang Thi To Nu, lecturer at Quy Nhon University, attended the 10th European Chemistry Congress (ECC10) in Antwerp, Belgium.

With the theme “Chemistry for a Sustainable Future”, ECC10 brought together thousands of scientists, lecturers, researchers, and professionals from around the world to exchange the latest research findings, technological innovations, and solutions in chemistry. The congress served as an important international platform for sharing scientific achievements, fostering collaboration, and promoting initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable future.

During the congress, Dr. Dang Thi To Nu from QNU and Prof. Vera Meynen from the University of Antwerp (Belgium) presented a scientific poster and delivered a Flash Talk entitled “Implementing Sustainability Competences and Practices at Quy Nhon University, Vietnam”. Their presentation introduced the implementation process and the initial outcomes of developing sustainability competences and practices at QNU.

The presentation highlighted the key achievements of IUC Project 7 at QNU, focusing on:

  • Strengthening laboratory safety capacity for lecturers and students;
  • Integrating the principles of Green Chemistry and Sustainable Development into teaching and laboratory practice;
  • Applying risk assessment methods and promoting the selection of safer chemicals and solvents to minimize adverse impacts on human health and the environment.

The research team also shared the successful collaboration model among Quy Nhon University, the University of Antwerp, and HOGENT University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Belgium) under Phase I of the IUC-QNU Programme, funded by VLIR-UOS. These achievements demonstrate the effectiveness of international cooperation in enhancing education quality, advancing scientific research, and promoting sustainable development at QNU.

Participation in ECC10 provided the QNU research team with valuable opportunities to engage in academic discussions with leading international scientists and experts, exchange experiences in implementing laboratory safety, Green Chemistry, and sustainability initiatives within higher education institutions, and gain insights into emerging research trends. The congress also enabled the team to expand its international academic network and establish connections with potential collaborators in chemistry and education.

The participation of IUC Project 7 at ECC10 further demonstrates the important role of the IUC-QNU Institutional University Cooperation Programme in strengthening collaboration between QNU and Belgian universities. Through these partnerships, QNU continues to enhance its capacity in education, scientific research, and international integration while promoting the values of laboratory safety, Green Chemistry, and sustainable development.
