QNU Promotes Waste Sorting and Treatment Solutions Towards a Sustainable Learning Environment

(IUC-SP7) – On December 14, 2025, Quy Nhon University organized a seminar on household waste sorting, reduction, and organic waste treatment within the framework of Project No. 7 under the IUC–QNU Program. This activity contributes to promoting appropriate waste management practices, aiming to build a sustainable learning and research environment.

The seminar was held to exchange and share solutions for sorting and reducing household waste, while proposing methods for treating organic waste suitable for the actual conditions at QNU. The event attracted the participation of staff, lecturers, graduate students, undergraduates, and individuals interested in waste management and environmental protection. Through this seminar, it helps raise awareness, promote waste sorting at the source, and gradually form an effective waste management model, improving the landscape and learning environment within the QNU campus.

The guest speakers and key member of SP7 shared their presentations at the seminar.

Reports presented at the program analyzed the current situation of waste sorting and treatment in the university environment, while highlighting difficulties in implementation at QNU. Many suggestions focused on clarifying the feasibility of applying waste sorting models at the source and organic waste treatment methods suitable for the infrastructure, space, and operational characteristics of QNU. These analyses contribute to identifying feasible approaches for research, testing, and implementation in the coming time.

Discussion and exchange activities of staff, lecturers, and students combined with hands-on waste sorting practice during the program.

Alongside discussions, a field survey was conducted to record the current status of household waste sorting, collection, and organic waste treatment within the QNU campus. The survey helps clarify limitations in waste management and provides practical grounds for assessing the feasibility of proposed solutions, serving research and implementation in the future.

The activity was organized within the framework of Project No. 7 under the IUC–QNU Program, demonstrating QNU’s orientation to integrate sustainable development factors into training, research, and management activities. Professional exchanges and survey results create a background for QNU to continue researching, improving, and implementing appropriate approaches, contributing to building a green, safe, and friendly learning environment.
