IUC Joint steering committee meeting with VLIR-UOS on the building-up of project proposals
On November 25th, Quy Nhon University and KU Leuven held a meeting of the Joint Steering Committee of the IUC program to initiate the building-up of proposals for projects within the framework of the QNU – IUC program.
Attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Trung – Head of Research Affairs and International Relations Office, Mr. Peter De Lannoy – Representative of VLIR-UOS, Prof. Kristiaan Temst – FlemishCoordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Ngan – Local Coordinator, Mr. Piet Wostyn – Flemish Project Manager, Dr. Nguyen Van Thang – Local Project Manager and 14 Flemish and local project team leaders.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Kristiaan Temst and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thi Ngan – Local Coordinator welcome all participants. The team leaders are thanked for the efforts they have made during the past months in creating, establishing, and strengthening their teams. VLIR-UOS is thanked for having organised the Connect Sessions which were very instrumental to this. After a general introduction by the coordinators, the seven subprojects briefly pitched their respective objectives and indicated which additional expertise would be useful in the project team.
In order to prepare a detailed proposal for the first phase of the IUC program, the VLIR-UOS representative – Mr. Peter De Lannoy – presented the new approach of VLIR-UOS according to the sustainable development goals (SDG). He also presented new features in project descriptions such as format and financial guidance.

Mr. Peter De Lannoy also pointed out the main issues and points that need to be kept in mind when building up proposals. Besides, the representative of VLIR-UOS also shared experiences on difficulties and challenges of the implemented IUC programs, helping Quy Nhon University to determine what should be the top priority at this time for effective program implementation.

All attendees discussed and exchanged issues towards the link between the IUC Program and the national strategy to achieve the sustainable development goals and finally agreed on a roadmap for planning the development of the QNU – IUC program with specific timelines to achieve the main goal of the Phase-in.
