With strong support from Sub-Project 2 (SP2) of the IUC\u2013QNU Project Phase 1, students and lecturers from Quy Nhon University achieved remarkable success at the XIV National Conference on Solid State Physics and Materials Science (SPMS 2025), held in Dak Lak from November 5 to 7. Thanks to access to modern laboratories, dedicated supervision, and financial assistance, SP2 has enabled participants to confidently present their scientific work at a national-level academic event.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the conference, student Huynh Thi Mai Diem et al.<\/em> presented a research project titled \u201cFabrication of Activated Carbon from Rice Husks and Surface Modification with CuO Nanoparticles to Enhance H\u2082S Adsorption Capacity in Biogas Purification\u201d<\/em>, which aligns closely with SP2\u2019s strategic orientation in advanced materials and applied physics. The poster received positive recognition for its scientific depth, methodological clarity, and practical relevance. Notably, the work was honored with the Outstanding Poster Award, affirming both the quality of the research and the increasing visibility of Quy Nhon University within the broader scientific community.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the awarded presentation, three other posters from the QNU team were displayed at SPMS 2025, attracting attention from conference participants despite not receiving prizes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first poster, presented by Nguyen Le Bao Tran et al.<\/em>, titled \u201cSimulation Study of Biogas (H\u2082S and CH\u2084) Adsorption and Separation Using Activated Carbon\u201d<\/em>, introduced a DFT-based study examining the adsorption and separation behavior of H\u2082S and CH\u2084 on pristine and doped activated carbon, highlighting the role of specific dopants in enhancing gas interactions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second poster, prepared by Hoang Thi Hang et al.<\/em>, titled \u201cSize-Selective VO\u2082 Nanoparticles Enabling Tunable Plasmonic and Thermochromic Behavior for Smart Windows\u201d<\/em>, reported on size-controlled VO\u2082 nanoparticles for smart window applications, demonstrating how nanoscale tuning improves thermochromic and optical performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

The final poster, contributed by Nguyen Trong Nguyen et al.<\/em>, showcased key experimental observations and visual results related to \u201cFabrication and Investigation of H\u2082S Adsorption Materials from Agricultural By-products Combined with Bentonite and Starch\u201d<\/em>, offering additional insights that complement ongoing research within the group.<\/span><\/p>\n

Together, these posters reflect the diverse research efforts of QNU\u2019s young scientists at the conference.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the award, participation in SPMS 2025 provided valuable opportunities for academic exchange. The team engaged in discussions with leading experts, expanded professional networks, and explored potential collaborations with research groups nationwide.
