A recent seminar, &#8220;Science for Sustainable Development,&#8221; held on July 22, 2025, underscored these efforts and demonstrated the university&#8217;s commitment to supporting scientists, lecturers, and graduate students in addressing real-world regional and national challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The seminar was a key event within the framework of the <b>IUC-QNU Project, Phase 1 (2022\u20132027)<\/b>, funded by VLIR-UOS. It saw strong participation from scientists, lecturers, graduate students, and representatives of 05 sub-projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/qnu.edu.vn\/Resources\/Images\/SubDomain\/HomePage\/2025\/Thang%207\/Seminar%20IUC\/z6833699540021_c4b90ab7c8290145c55f12b06651f734.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Assco.Prof. Dr. VU Thi Ngan &#8211; Project Coordinator gave the welcome remarks<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The event aimed to create a vital academic forum for QNU&#8217;s graduate students and lecturers to share their latest research findings in science, technology, and sustainable development. It also encouraged interdisciplinary academic exchange, especially in the fields of agriculture, advanced materials, the environment, and climate change. These are particularly pressing issues that directly impact the development of the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions of Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The morning session focused on agricultural research, with presentations centered on two key crops in the Central and Central Highlands regions: <b>durian and avocado<\/b>. Ph.D students presented initial findings on post-harvest technology to extend the shelf life of durian, optimizing durian fertilization and fruit set, and identifying the fungi that cause durian trunk rot. They also covered the characteristics of fungi causing avocado fruit disease and discussed methods to prevent post-harvest losses. These studies offer not only scientific value but also practical solutions to support local agricultural production.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/qnu.edu.vn\/Resources\/Images\/SubDomain\/HomePage\/2025\/Thang%207\/Seminar%20IUC\/z6833682662719_79d0868aea9ef6ae425230670045c218.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Ph.D students from SP 3,4 delivered their\u00a0 presentation<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The afternoon session shifted to the topics of <b>advanced materials and the environment<\/b>. Reports highlighted efforts to enhance the plasmonic and thermochromic effects of VO\u2082 materials for use in smart windows, the use of iron oxide nanomaterials to capture hydrogen sulfide from biogas, and flood risk assessments for the K\u00f4n and K\u1ef3 L\u1ed9 river basins. This research contributes to scientific solutions for sustainable development and adapting to climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/qnu.edu.vn\/Resources\/Images\/SubDomain\/HomePage\/2025\/Thang%207\/Seminar%20IUC\/z6833682651367_6407057ddce5b0f7c4e03052ff4e38d0.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em> Ph.D students from SP 1,2 delivered their presentation<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">At the seminar, Assco.Prof. Dr. VU Thi Ngan , Project Coordinator of the IUC-QNU, emphasized the importance of connecting domestic and international research groups. She highlighted how interdisciplinary and international cooperation can enhance research and teaching capabilities and make practical contributions to local and national development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The &#8220;Science for Sustainable Development&#8221; seminar was more than just an academic event; it was a testament to the passionate spirit of scientific research, innovation, and integration at Quy Nhon University.
