Spring School 2024 on Quantitative Research Methods in Agricultural Economics at Quy Nhon University
Within the framework of Project 5 of the IUC-QNU Program, Quy Nhon University (QNU) collaborated with the IUC Project Coordination Board to successfully organize the Spring School 2024 on Quantitative Research Methods in Agricultural Economics to enhance the knowledge and research capabilities of QNU lecturers.
As part of Sub-project 5 (IUC-QNU program), the Spring School took place over 5 days, from 25th to 29th March 2024 at QNU. The Spring School, featuring experts from Ghent University and Antwerp University (Belgium), provided a variety of lectures lectures on selected topics: ecosystem services, choice experiment methods, consumer behavior, experimental auctions, and circular economy. Furthermore, the experts also guided QNU lecturers to perform practical exercises and research on related topics after each lecture.
The supply chains of fruits in Vietnam frequently encounter various risks, including supply-demand imbalances, price fluctuations, and the adverse impacts of climate change. These risks cause the substantial instability in the livelihoods of local farmers. Sub-project 5 of the IUC-QNU Program aims to improve the income of local farmers and enhance the value of the dragon fruit and jujube supply chains through establishing risk assessment and management models. Moreover, the project contributes to the development of research and teaching capabilities of QNU lecturers regarding agricultural supply chains.
Through participation in the Spring School, QNU lecturers are expected to gain additional knowledge and enhance their research capabilities, data collection, and analysis skills in agricultural economics, serving the implementation of Phase 1 of Sub-project 5 (2022-2027).
The opening ceremony of the Spring School 2024 on Quantitative Research Methods in Agricultural Economics at Quy Nhon University was attended by the leader of the Office of Research Affairs & International Relations, Local Coordinator, Local Project Manager of the IUC-QNU Partnership, leaders from the Department of Economics and Accounting, Department of Finance-Banking and Business Administration, members of Sub-projects 5 and interested lecturers.
The event was also honored to welcome the attendance of the Flemish delegation: Prof. Dr. Hans De Steur – Ghent University, Prof. Dr. Christine Yung Hung – Ghent University, Dr. Loïc De Weerdt – University of Antwerp, Dr. Sophie Van Schoubroeck – University of Antwerp, Dr. Wito Van Oijstaeijen – University of Antwerp.
