Professor Danny Geelen’s visit to Quy Nhon University
Within the framework of the Phase In IUC program, Professor Danny Geelen, leader of the Belgian research team of project 3, paid a visit to Quy Nhon University on July 25.
Professor Danny Geelen is a professor in the Department of Plants and Crops, Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, Ghent University. In recent years, his main research is to identify biostimulants, which can be used as the main target in controlling environmental conditions or applying specific solutions with plant growth regulators to change physiological status and increase plant tolerance.
Professor Geelen presented a scientific seminar with the topic “Biostimulants from agricultural waste”. This is one of the main research contents and perspectives for sub-project 3 activities in Phase 1 of the IUC program.
On the same day, he also toured the facilities of some laboratories for research of the sub-project 3. At the same time, together with members of the QNU team, Prof. Danny Geelen visited some avocado and durian orchards in Hoai An district, Binh Dinh province. According to him, this field trip was very important to gain insight into the current farming situation and observe the context to contribute to the development of research proposals that are closer to reality within the framework of the project 3.
