Field trip for sub-project 3 in Chu Se and Chu Pah Districts, Gia Lai Province
Within the framework of the first-year activity plan for Subproject 3 in the Institutional University Cooperation with Quy Nhon University (IUC-QNU), granted by VLIR-UOS (Belgium), Dr. Bui Hong Hai – the local team leader and Dr. Nguyen- Thanh Liem – local team member conducted a field trip to Chu Se and Chu Pah districts in Gia Lai province from September 15 to 17, 2023.
During the field trip, the delegation engaged in discussions with the Agricultural Service Center of Chu Se district regarding the sub-project’s upcoming activities and collaborative initiatives. Previously, the Agricultural Service Center of Chu Se district, which belongs to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Chu Se district, was assigned to coordinate with Quy Nhon University in implementing the IUC-QNU sub-project activities.

In Chu Se district, with the support of a QNU alumni, Nguyen Viet Quyen (Class K32 Agronomy, QNU), the delegation conducted an investigation and collected leaf samples for further analysis in the laboratories at Ghent University (Belgium).

In Chu Pah district, staff members from the Agricultural Service Center of Chu Pah district supported the investigation and collected samples of different durian varieties from households to conduct genetic diversity analysis and identify Phytophthora species in disease samples.

Chu Pah district still possesses numerous indigenous durian varieties. Although these durian varieties are not high in economic value, they exhibit valuable characteristics such as adaptability and resistance to pests, paving the way for further research, preservation, and development.
The field trip was successfully completed, adhering to the proposed working plan, strengthening collaboration with relevant partnerships, and promoting the upcoming activities of the sub-project.
